An interesting question and I have found an amazing site that answers just that question, or does it.

Well anyway, back to the question. Do you put on sexy lingerie for sex?

I have a ton of lingerie, I love it...but I rarely put it on for sex. I tend to mostly wear it around the house when I'm alone, or, when I have (girl)friends over drinking we sometimes dress up in it for fun.

Does anybody else have lingerie they don't usually wear for sex?

If I think sex is on the cards I do tend to put on some nicer underwear if I'm in sth skanky.

If I know I'm going to have sex, I put on my nicer underwear, but I feel like the guys that I've had sex with didn't even notice, so that's why I haven't gone all out. All I need is a "Wow you look hot in that" and I'll be headed to Victoria Secret, but since that amount of enthusiasm isn't shown, I'll stick with what I got 'til I need some new stuff.

I'd appreciate it, no-one wants to unwrap a present wrapped in newspaper, they want nice stuff with bows 'n ribbons 'n shit. Thumbs up to the dress ups.

It astonishes me some guys get laid at all with that kind of attitude. laughs It usually takes me a minute to roll my jaw back up off the floor~

Though I typically think simple and soft but bright colors are the best. It's delicious~ but not sure you would call it lingerie!

I guess I should have said that I don't really consider sexy/cute underwear to be lingerie (I wear that all the time). I meant more "costume-y" type stuff...corsets, garters, stockings, etc

Lingerie is an interesting ritual. The selection process at the store, the envisioning of how she would look in it, the colors against her skin, how they feel, how they make her feel. It's not necessarily about you.

Yet she projects all those decisions from the moment she bought it until the moment she reveals it to you. Whether you were part of that original thought process when she bought it or not, when you see her in it... you are now a part of all of that.

A part of the fantasy, however subtle. Who cares? She does of course. She cared enough to show you the result of a process that was started long before she clasped on the bra before bedding with you. It's worth acknowledging with more than just arousal~ it should be acknowledged with your eyes, your lips or your words, but above all it should be acknowledged.

That's very cute, but if someone bought me a new lamp, I wouldn't care. I didn't ask for a lamp. That's great if you spent days picking out the perfect lamp, and I appreciate you care so much about me, but it's not something I'm very interested in so my appreciation would be very limited.

Now imagine if instead of discussing a lamp we're talking about a woman wearing sexy lingerie. I just don't care very much.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that lamps and lingerie are not at all the same thing. One's a (admittedly mundane) bringer of illumination, and the other is a part of a mating ritual.

Also, it's the thought that counts. It’s one of those things that men want to know — but really don’t want to know.

What does it take to get a woman into the sack?

Cindy M. Meston, a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, along with fellow psychology professor David M. Buss asked 1,006 women exactly that.

In their recently published book, Why Women Have Sex: Understanding Sexual Motivation: From Adventure to Revenge (and Everything In Between), they uncovered hundreds of reasons, deep, dark, delicious or devilish.

There’s medicinal sex (Yes Dear, I have a headache), mate-guarding sex and mercy sex, duty sex, jealousy sex and competitive sex, barter sex, break-up sex and booty calls.

Meston will be one of the speakers this week at ideaCity, the three-day conference that began in Toronto.

**Presented by media impresario Moses Znaimer and co-sponsored by the Star, ideaCity annually brings together an eclectic mix of authors, scientists and artists.**

We reached Meston at her sexual psychophysiology laboratory, where she conducts research on women’s sexual experiences.

This is an edited and condensed version of our conversation.

Q: What’s the one thing we should know about women’s sexuality?

A: There’s a desynchrony between the genital arousal response and how aroused a woman says she is which is different from what you find in men. There’s a close connection between the erectile function and how aroused a man says he is. In women they’re not very correlated.

Q: Why do we need to know if women can name 237 reasons to have sex?

A: From a clinical perspective, if we’re to make advances in trying to enhance sexual pleasure or resolve problematic behaviour, we need to understand the underlying motivations. For example, if a woman is engaging in a lot of high-risk unprotected sexual behaviour, then a clinical intervention that teaches her to use condoms and to engage in safer sexual choices is not going to be effective if her underlying motivation is that she’s trying to punish herself.

Q: Let’s talk about some of the evolutionary reasons.

A: It’s not so much that there are evolutionary reasons but evolutionary explanations for a lot of the reasons.

Most of them pertain to sexual attraction. Women like tall men; they like muscular men. There’s actually evidence that tall muscular men have more sexual partners, more live-in girlfriends, more children. The body type and the height signal a man’s ability to protect the woman and possibly provide for her because he has the strength to do so.

Q: But these would also make them fairly risky as partners, no?

A: Yes, they’re the bad boys who also have more extramarital affairs.

You can divide the world into dads and cads. They tend to be the cads. But a lot of women reproduce with the cads and then marry a dad — or cuckold a dad with a cad — and pass on the good genes but then have a nice dad to raise the other guy’s good genes.

Random genetic testing shows that 10 per cent of people who think that their dad is a certain person are wrong.

Q: Everybody thinks women have sex to get a man, to hold on to a man, that kind of thing. Were you surprised by what you found?

A: There are certainly some unexpected reasons. Women intentionally having sex to give a man a STD. To get closer to God. Tons of revenge sex. Because they were bored or they were cold or there was nothing better on TV.

Q: A lot of women are taking SSRI antidepressants, such as Prozac, and we know they inhibit sexual response. Is there hope for them?

A: The good news is that, since SSRIs were introduced 20 years ago, there’s been a lot of research on how SSRIs affect sexual arousal and satisfaction. Now they’re developing antidepressants, which reduce sexual side effects dramatically. There’s been real progress.

Q: Okay, so how many women have sex just because it feels good?

A: I don’t have a statistic that I can accurately cite but I can tell you that sex for pleasure was the main category why women have sex in our study. I was so happy to find that. We really thought that the No. 1 reason would be for love, commitment, to keep a man or please a man. But it wasn’t; it was for physical gratification.

Q: So then why do many women have orgasm problems?

A: It’s not the case that women have orgasm problems. The most common problem is desire problem.

Q: What do you think of attempts to medicalize that?

A: It’s not that I’m a drug pusher but if there’s a drug that can make sex feel good for women then I’m all for it. It just hasn’t been discovered yet.

Q: But I can’t imagine that taking a pill would help if a partner isn’t attractive or attentive.

A: That’s one of the big gender differences between men and women. It’s not just about what a woman’s genitals are doing that creates arousal. It has so much to do with how her partner is acting towards her, is the house clean, are the kids screaming, was the dog fed, did somebody piss her off at work . . . It’s so easy to be distracted because the genital signal isn’t very strong unless she is really super aroused. And to get there for many women, it takes a special event, a lot of foreplay, a massage, a bubble bath, a walk along the beach, a nice dinner. But there’s not enough time to have that five times a week.

For men the genital response is out there. It’s noticeable, it’s very strong, it’s hard to ignore.

Women’s genital response is easy to ignore. So a drug that increases genital response is not going to work because there are all these things in the environment, which play a role. Anything can distract women whereas a man, an earthquake might be happening, and he’s still able to focus on his penis.

But there are other mechanisms for women to enjoy themselves.

Rumour has it that masturbation works. You don’t need a man to have sexual pleasure.

Q: No wonder men go bald. What can they do to make up for their, um, shortcomings?

A: They can get a good job, make lots of money, and have high status and show a lot of confidence and a good sense of humour.

Secondly, in a fight, one of you should calm down, not to make the worsen situation even worse. Some couples even take one day a week to be the "cold war", so other times they are not allowed to quarrel with another.

But they are still in a relationship; they did not forget the happy time when they fell in love. So he or she can make a sumptuous candlelit dinner, or buy him or her some small gifts, some couples like the role-play. One perfect advice is buying some sexy lingerie.

Camisoles that can double up as outerwear look sexy and delicate, while corsets are extremely popular this year and look fantastic on every woman.

Be careful what you wear them with, though — the look you want is feminine and classy, so teaming them with fishnets is not advisable.
A popular way to wear a corset is with jeans and heels, which tones it down while still being sexy.

The most vital element of the look is confidence. If you don’t feel empowered and confident, that will come across — and you’d be better off keeping your underwear under wraps.

NEW YORK -- Wherever It Goes, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Takes Sexy With It.

Last year, models took over the restored Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The year before, they shimmied through the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

This time around, the show celebrates a return to its roots with a bold new instalment in New York.

"It's always a big buzz when things happen in New York," Sharen Turney, company president and chief executive officer, said before the recent taping of the latest Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, to air Tuesday night on CBS.

Manhattan hosted the inaugural runway spectacle in 1995 and another in 2005.

"New York is one of the fashion capitals of the world," said Miranda Kerr, a company model. "Fashion starts with underwear, and that starts with Victoria's Secret."

Although the Big Apple is known for chic, the venue this year -- the 69th Regiment Armoury, where the show was also taped four years ago -- needed a makeover.

The active National Guard training centre, a complex dating from 1906 in the Gramercy Park neighbourhood, boasts soldiers in fatigues and ground-floor displays of World War II memorabilia.

Turney, though, approved wholeheartedly.

"I think the venue is perfect because we do like to transform our places into something sexy," she said. "It has a lot of glamour, a lot of mystique."
To stage the show, with a "Magical Fantasy" theme, Victoria's Secret took along an army of its own.
On the Nov. 19 model-taping day, the backstage area bustled with several hundred hairdressers, makeup artists, personal assistants, security guards and Victoria's Secret staff members.
Every detail -- from the lip-gloss to the celebrity seating -- had been mapped out.

In the prep room, reporters and photographers sought face time as stylists and hairdressers swarmed the models -- before they were herded into another room (off-limits to the media) for fittings.

"I've never seen anything like this," said Lyndsey Scott, a first-time Victoria's Secret model who has worked for Calvin Klein, DKNY, Gucci and Prada.

"It's such a big space back here, and it's completely full."

The runway outfits were begun with items available in Victoria's Secret stores, but each received a unique treatment. Elite design houses worldwide were recruited to add elements.

On television, models will be seen emerging from a giant white castle, then walking on a glittering, V-shaped runway.

Around them will be dancers, colourful sets and, at one point, a giant inflatable dog.

Providing the music: the Black Eyed Peas, complete with neon backdrops and energetic choreography.

"There's something about a Victoria's Secret fashion show that captures people's imaginations," said Katy Mullan, a TV producer for Done and Dusted, which handled the event for CBS.

"From the people who work on camera to the event coordinators, they say it's the most rewarding and challenging experience they've ever done."

When sitting in bed, the two partners should intently stare into each other’s eyes. Partners can also place their hands across each other’s hearts to synchronize their breathing and prolong the process.

By gazing into one another’s eyes, a connection and deeper bond is formed between partners.

When it comes to smell, partners need not lie in bed and sniff each other. That’s simply odd, and a waste of precious time.

Dr. Berman recommends burning aromatic oils like vanilla, patchouli and ylang-ylang.

For men in particular, Dr. Berman mentions leaving out surprising scents like pumpkin pie and lavender, as they have been shown to increase blood flow to the reproductive organ by 40 percent. Licorice and banana bread, both equally peculiar, seem to create arousal for women.

Instead of placing another lacklustre apple and spice Yankee candle on one’s bedside table, couples should explore the pleasures of unique scents.

While burning an arousing scent, Dr. Berman advises couples to use the sense of touch because in its absence, sex simply can’t happen.

The act of touching releases a hormone called oxytocin, or “the cuddle hormone.” According to Dr. Berman, oxytocin levels are elevated in response to physical contact, and the more touching that occurs, the better a person will feel.

It’s important to remember that although touching can get a little naughty under the covers, women also crave nonsexual touching like a backrub or a deep embrace.

When getting caught up in the act of sex and all the passion it evokes, be sure not to neglect these innocent forms of touching, as they too can convey messages of love and connection.

Most couples tend to shy away from embracing the sense of taste. However, they are missing out on a blissful experience as Dr. Berman refers to the mouth as “a portal to pleasure.”

She recommends bringing colourful fruits like strawberries and papayas into the bedroom, and even vegetables like carrots and celery. Partners can easily feed these to one another with their fingers, paying close attention to the sensation of textures and flavours in their mouths.

When eaten in the bedroom, dessert is much more enjoyable, and a tad sexier.

Dr. Berman recommends honey, hot fudge and whipped cream, and although these can get a little messy and sticky, that’s part of the fun. Partners should use these foods to explore the uncharted territories of each other’s bodies, enjoying the sweet taste of the experience.

Last but certainly not least, Dr. Berman describes how to bring the sensation of sound into couple’s sex lives.

Research has shown the correlation between a couple’s idealization of each other and the success of their relationship, according to Dr. Berman. The more compliments a partner hears, the better the relationship will do, both in and out of bed.

She explains that men love to hear the sounds of their partner enjoying sex, and by becoming more verbal; both partners will feel an instant boost in their arousal.

Dr. Berman believes that it’s not simply about talking dirty, but also about expressing emotional feelings and sexual cravings to one another. The sense of sound is like a natural aphrodisiac, bringing partners to new a new sexual plateau and a ensuring a night of pleasure.

With the semester coming to its close, it’s difficult for many to escape the menacing jaws of stress. However, students can avoid these negative feelings by engaging in sexual activity with their partner and becoming more attuned to their five senses. Glamorous burlesque performer Dita Von Teese - who is known for her retro 50s style - insists she is happy with her wardrobe choices over the years.

When asked about her biggest fashion mistake, Dita said "I don't really feel that way. I've always been really true to what I want to wear. I don't use a stylist and have always been faithful and consistent with my personal style.

"The only thing I sometimes think is I should have posed differently, or when I'm on a photo shoot and I'm talked in to something like not wearing my red lipstick or having waved hair. But I stand by my choices."
